XTV is an entirely student run television station based at the University of Exeter.
We are one of the four X-Media run by the Guild of Students - our Student Union.
We are an online TV station, so you can watch everything we make here on this website. We also have facilities to broadcast in to Devonshire house on our shiny black flatscreens, in to the Ram on occasion, and at special events we can broadcast live at the venue of our choosing!
We make all our own shows, own all our own gear and members get involved in any aspect of television, from presenting to set design, scriptwriting, camerawork and that crucial production workflow activity - eating jaffa cakes in the edit suite.
There are currently 13 student TV stations in the UK which are affiliated to NaSTA - the National Student Television Association.
Every Easter all of the stations get together for an annual conference and awards ceremony, where the best programmes of the year are pitted against each other and judged by some of the TV industry's top dogs.
In our 16 year history, we have won stacks of awards, so many we don't really know what to do with all the plaques and certificates floating around the office.
Whichever job you apply for after University, if you've already had experience then your chances are vastly improved, and this is no exception in the television industry.
Out of the 14 station managers who have been in control of XTV, at least 5 are now working full time in the industry, from the BBC to Carlton to FoxTel in Sydney - and thats just out of the ones we could find!
As well as that, previous members have also used XTV to build portfolios for film school applications, get their way into presenting and pretty much anything in between!
If that's got you itching to find out more about XTV, take a look at our Meddle in the Media video from this year, browse our online archive of programmes, or find out how you can sign up!
